Im going to pull the trigger on that CRL window. I spoke to a local glass shop and they said they would install it. My gasket in the truck now is in real good shape so I'm hoping they can reuse it.
I was interested in the Ford windows on Ebay but both were from the same seller. When I checked his feedback I was not willing to take a chance with him. The CRL window is new with a warranty and if damaged in shipping it will be replaced. The Ebay seller takes no responsibility for anything after it leaves his possession.
I read this post the other day so looked online for the best price I could find on the CRL-7130EP. It comes with the gasket installed. Anyways, best price I could find online including shipping, taxes, and duty was $678 CDN. to the door here in Alberta. Thats a CR Laurence window supplied by DK Hardware.
Then I started looking online in junkyards close to my place. My search showed a junkyard listing of a rear slider to fit a 96 F150. I opened the link and was surprised to see the same model/color truck as mine show up. For some reason one of the pictures showed the doorjamb tag and after comparing it to my VIN, my truck should have been right behind it on the assembly line! Now thats crazy stuff right there, whats the chance? It was tough to inspect the window because the truck has a topper on it right now. I will get the slider and the gasket for $120 CDN. Theres not much left of the truck and with any luck they will let me walk in with a 5 gallon pail and take every screw, bolt, clip, etc off the truck that I can reach. They way I see it, hoard the parts when you get the chance.
The best price I can find is $375 US dollars. The old style junk yards are gone around my area. They are all recyclers now. The Wisconsin DNR had hundreds of them shut down years ago for ground water concerns. Pre pulled late model parts are about all thats to be had.
