Hey all,
So I was looking and noticed the hose from my PCV Valve just goes to the underside of the truck. The carb on my 86 F150 inline 6 has been replaced and I'm wondering where the PCV hose go to? I've attached pictures as well.
Looks like you have a non-EGR spacer between the carb and intake? Or some kind of a homemade spacer?
I only had the one truck with the 300, and it was a non-EGR, so between the carb and intake was just a spacer with one hose barb which I ran to the brake booster. I had my PCV connected to the multi-barb "tree" that sticks out of the intake. See my pic below. The easiest solution is to go to the hardware store and get some more fittings so you can add another hose barb at the intake.
So I still have the valve tree, should I put that back and just cover up spots that aren't used?
That's what I did, and just capped off all the other little barbs. This was just an old truck and all of the emissions equipment had already been removed before I got it.
Can I run both hoses to the tree? And by both hoses I mean the one from the PCV Valve and the one from the black circular thing on the driver's side that name eludes me.
That "black circular thing on the driver's side that name eludes me." is the power brake booster.
If me and the brakes work good I would leave the hose where it is and just fix the PCV hose
I would have to check my 81 F100 how it is set up but I also have the EGR valve still in place (no working) so it would look different than yours.

You have no other large ports I assume? If you put the tree back on, will it give you two large ports? The smaller ports will do you no good. If you can put the tree back on and get two large ports, I would try it. There is a chance that your brakes may not work as well, you just need to see what happens. The PCV has a lot of flow to it. In other words, its a fairly large vacuum leak. So if the brake booster and the PCV are on the same fitting, the PCV may steal some of the vacuum from the brake booster. No way of knowing except to try it.
Also expect to reset the idle speed and the idle mixture screws on the carb when you hook the PCV up. Like I said, it's a large vacuum leak. It's very beneficial for the engine, keeping it clean inside. So any trade-offs are worth it to get it hooked back up.
If the tree doesn't work out, maybe you can find a spacer for under the carb that has a port on it like someone else mentioned.
So I have two other large ports on the carb. The one circled and a second behind the fuel/carb filter near where the arrow points to. Can I use one of those?
As mine sits right now l have the brake booster routed to the vacuum tree and the PCV routed to the OEM fitting on what used to be the EGR housing (now, extensively modified, it's just a spacer and a vacuum port).
if your carb is like mine, the internal passage for the fitting up in front (arrow, under the filter) goes up into the carb body above the throttle plates, for ported vacuum. @FuzzFace2 , that's the one that gave me fits a few wks ago on my new carb... it was later confirmed to be a blind hole w a fitting stuck in it. Unbelievable.
