Tip for Today. Push, Then twist

Today I needed to refill my Hot Shots bottle, the one you squeeze to measure 1 ounce. PITA to do, but can be done. Buying the gallon is lot less expensive than buying the 16 ounce bottles. So while I was grabbing the empty from under the back seat, I decided to drain out some fuel and check for water, haven't done it since I got the truck.

Opening it up, easy peasy, not a drop on me, went right into the bottle. Then went to close it, and man, that diesel goes down your arm FAST! By the time I figured out you need to push it UP to turn it, I was soaked down both arms and into my shirt. Not a lot, but just enough to make a mess and now have to wash my overshirt, it's flannel and I wear it every day as a light jacket.

Wife is going to love me.

So, PSA, push up then turn to close your water drain on your PSD filter.

Maybe that is how they get broken so easily. You don't catch that they come down when you twist it open. At least I didn't since I just flicked it open with my finger.

That's the conventional thinking on why the valve gets broken. I have two brand new ones in the truck because of all the posts about valves that were breaking. I'll probably never need them.

I heard a cracking sound too, but turned out to be my back.

My watch band still smells of diesel even though it has been soaked in Dawn. A friend of mine is bringing an ultrasonic cleaner tomorrow that will hopefully remove the smell once and for all.

Diesel makes a hell of a cologne.

Hey ACDii, I have the new SPE filter system on the way. After it arrives and I will have the SPE drain plug so you can have it to replace your OEM drain plug. If you want it DM me and I will send it to you.

I don't have an Alumina Duty or else I'd know what else is out there... love cruising the web for this stuff.

Okay so only SPE offers one here.

But going to their site, they now offer a Gen 2 model here.

I should remember exactly what it is but I have only drained my filter 1 time, I needed some diesel to get a fire burning! that is when the plastic one broke. ordered the billet one and replaced it when I did the filter change and haven't touched it since.
