Worm gear
I have a 1999 e350 rv. 7.3 diesel / 4r110 trans.
i have no output signal from trans. Flashing od light. My trans has e brake on back of trans. I pulled the output sensor and I can spin the worm gear freely with my finger. Any idea where I can get a new one, or how to fix the one on output shaft now?

Well, there is a 4R100 and a 5R110 trans, The 5R110 not out till 03, yours should be the 4R110
Neither have a worm gear on the output shaft, that I am aware of, like the older ones had
I assume Chris, you are talking about the speedo drive gear, on the output shaft?
You should not have a plastic one that is loose on the shaft (like the older ones)
There are 2 speed sensors on your trans, they both put out a square wave

Some E40D transmissions had the worm gear you mention
If you have one of those up to 1998 transmissions with a loose plastic speedo drive gear
You remove the extension housing (rear output housing) and find or replace the clip and or ball
Some just have a cheesey clip to hold the gear, some have a steelie and a clip
You tighten yours up.
The drive gear should be flat across its surface (or it is worn and needs to be replaced)
Means not "U" shaped where the driven gear rides
Good luck
