I just picked up a new-to-me 2021 F-150 Platinum Powerboost. The center console armrest (non-work surface) won’t stand up on its own when opened. It’s spring-loaded to assist the release when the button is pushed to open, but the spring isn’t strong enough to hold the armrest straight up while you dig for something. The armrest flops back down after opening requiring a 2-hand operation to search through the storage bin. I’ve never had a vehicle where the armrest didn’t hold itself open and I find it quite annoying when trying to find stuff. I stopped by a local Ford dealer to see if the spring mechanism could be adjusted to solve the problem. They tightened a couple of allen screws under the armrest but that didn’t do much. Service called Ford HQ for assistance they were told the spring is only designed to “assist” the release from the latched position but not hold the armrest up on its own. That response didn’t hold much water because the F-150s in the showroom didn’t have the problem of the armrest falling when fully opened. Neither has any Ford that I’ve owned. Has anyone else had this experience and is there a solution? Like I say, it’s kind of an annoying problem that I’ve never had to deal with before. Thank you!
