I mean this forum is dead at the timing of this post. I have major intrigue in the mid-size Diesels for my next vehicle. Ford killed this engine after only a handful of years and Ram has finally killed the Eco-diesel. At this moment, is the 3.0L Powerstroke worth buying?
I may be biased as I own a 2021 3.0L F150, but its smooth as butter and cheap to run. It won't win any races but it get around pretty good as well.
You have yourself a unicorn on your hands. Ford made the executive decision to discontinue this engine choice very early on in the 2021 model year. However, this was not before some 2021s made it into production so equipped. Yours, happens to be one such example. While problems may be relatively few and far between, parts unobtainability will be an issue in the not-too-distant future as already mentioned above. Engine specific parts I mean. That said, mothballing your ride, as opposed to using it as a daily driver could turn it into an investment years ahead, if that's feasible for you.
If you want decent 3.0 powerstroke information, this is unfortunately not the place to find it. There are a few excellent facebook groups that have a ton of information about these trucks.
We have one, as well as a 6.7. The 6.7 is an amazing beast, but the 3.0 powerstroke does amazing for what we use it for.
I have a few buddies with the 3.5 ecoboost, and 5.0 in half tons similar to ours, and there is no way I would want one of those over a 3.0, again for what we use a half ton for.
