Greetings,
I have replaced my shift solenoid as well as the shift column with the OD switch which did not have any fraying. I cannot find any bare wires as they all seem to be well protected by sheathing. Fuse 19 blows still..... Fuse 104 is missing, but my exc. is 4x2, so I am guessing that I don't need it?? What do I check next? 6.8L v10 engine.
Thanks
E40D transmission. The OD light is blinking and blows fuse 19. Vehicle drives forward in 3rd gear and wont shift. Reverse works. This is a common problem, usually a wire rubbed bare, but I cant find that in this case. Looking for any other clues one might offer.
Thanks,
That transmission was used for a number of years across several product lines.
You STILL need to COMPLETELY identify what you're working on..... No one can look up any data without that basic information. While you're at it, identify WHICH fuse #19 is blowing, you probably have one of those in each fusebox.
Then you posted this in the wrong forum. No Excursion ever had an E4OD transmission. All Excursions, except the ones with the 6.0L, had the 4R100 transmission.

The blinking light means codes have been stored. You need these codes to fix this. Get Forscan at www.forscan.org and then we can help. Without codes all anyone can do is guess.
Well, if a fuse is blown and it's critical to the operation of the transmission, it needs to be fixed first. Any current transmission-related codes are likely due to lost power that should have been provided by that fuse.
