If you drink water you may die, but little Johnny playing outside will still be living.

I bet you all know at least one person you have met in life that should not be a mechanic. Many of them are here on the internet. Years ago, there was a Subaru that was in a parking garage that was backing up. Sadly, he just did the brake job. He's ok because he died in the sudden stop 5 stories down. The guy sitting in his car on the street did too.

I am so glad that people are not fascinated with brain surgery.

This is a discussion on an enthusiasts forum concerning brake pads.

Perhaps this is not the local for you should the "What ifs" in life & death cause you angst & make you feel the need to alert the greater world at large of the dangers therein

But the turn was when someone pointed out that you could do it yourself. Rarely ever does a thread stay on point. I voiced my opinion [which is what these forums are all about] to the previous statement.

I'm just trying to point out that everyone really needs to be concerned about brakes. I've worked with professionals for 40 years and they cannot seem to do it right. We are so quick to point out they they are 'easy'. I have yet to see anyone other than myself, to point out what may be easy and save you a lot of money, but it can cause you nothing but problems. That is my goal and if one person double checks their skills or work, it's well worth it.

I have never pointed out my feelings with most every other repair on a vehicle. I doubt if you replace the coolant pump that you could cause death and mayhem. I could, but that would be foolish for me to point out.

Brakes are easy and you *should* do them yourself

If you cannot handle a simple brake pad change, you have no business driving a classic vehicle

Porterfield R4S are my choice. They will reline your old shoes and pads with whatever material you want.

Keep us posted on those EBC please.
