Best brake pads?
EBC are our go-to pads for the truck market and I really like the GreenStuff pads. Green 7000 pads up front and Green 6000 pads out back. And the price is reasonable.
If you want Extreme performance, we can also look at the Orange Stuff series pads.

I had the greenstuff on my truck (which is an older one). Brake dust wasn't too bad. It did have some. Stopping power was improved, but pad life wasn't all that great. Inow have fleet heavy duty pas from the local store and they have been fine so far.

Are they worn right down or just being preventative and want something better? What kindofshapeare thedisks in, and do they need replacing as well? A high line top quality is generally better. Motorcraft May have a lower level and a higher level which you would want. Depends if you want aftermarket or not. EBC are known very good.
i am at 49000 miles, you can’t tell there is any wear at all as yet.

Do you know if you had the Greenstuff 6000 pads or 7000 pads? The Greenstuff 7000 pads are specifically designed for the front axle on heavy duty trucks and intended to have better pad life than the Greenstuff 6000 pads.
I installed the Powerstop Z36 kit as well to include new pad and rotors. Night and day difference in stopping for me. No scientific data, but seem to have less brake dust on my wheels now also. Honestly some of the best money I've spent on my truck. I don't tow so I can't give you details about stopping under a load but stopping on the highway now I find my self stopping short if I don't take into account how much quicker it stops. And I only had 29K on the truck when I swapped everything out so there was still plenty of material left on the pads and no issues with the stock rotors.

That seems like excessive wear. My 2005 diesel had 172,000 km on it without ever touching the brakes. Yes, it towed a lot, but not super heavy. That’s about 120,000 miles. Now granted I went through a rear pad and busted a cylinder on a rear brake caliper, but I got my money’s worth on then pads.
When you do replace the pads, it would be advisable to resurface the rotors, or replace them, and bed in the new pads. New pads on unevenly worn rotors will cause issues. It’s also important to line them caliper pins properly.
must betowing prettay heavy or heavy on the throttle and the brakes.
