Tune up kit

I have 1996 f150 4.9l. It has new plugs in but I want to get cap rotor and wires. What's the best one to get? Are the cheapest tune up kit just as good as the expensive ones? The plugs in it are auto lite copper.

Motorcraft cap, rotor, wires and plugs. I think Autolite plugs are what Chrysler uses as OEM.

From what I've read auto lite copper is what should go in it. I have a Chrysler Sebring it takes champion plugs.

You’re right about the Champion plugs for Mopar. What plug is listed on the emissions label?

Is that all that they have in the Canadian catalog because I see a Motorcraft cap when I look.

There maybe if I got all the parts separately. I just clicked on tune up kit and that's what came up. So should I get the stuff separately or are the kits ok?

I just done a tune up for my Ranger with all Motorcraft. I had to buy them all separate. I did not want to chance the aftermarket parts.

The wife 2019 Dodge Van uses NGK Iridium plugs. That what the dealer installed a couple months ago broke my heart to pay for them rascals.

Nothing wrong with Autolite spark plugs in a Ford. I use either Motorcraft or Autolite in all my Fords.

Did Ford switch to platinum plugs in the 300 like they did in the 302 and 351?

I was always told the best plugs were the copper ones. Thats what i bought for it was auto lite copper and that's what was in the truck from whoever changed them before I got the truck.

Still doesn’t answer my previous question of what spark plug is listed on the emissions sticker? What did Ford put in the truck in ‘96?

I think I'm going to take my chances on the premium tune up kit. If I get the Motorcraft in the individual parts for about $30 more I can get the premium tune up kit, denso 02 sensor, premium fram oil filter , fram air filter and fram oil and air filter for my car.

You can't go wrong with the motorcraft brand stuff. Your truck won't go any faster or run smoother with the 'premium' kit, which probably isnt as good as motorcraft. When in doubt, buy Motorcraft. And I would avoid anything with the word 'fram' on it. Wix, Purolator, stp, and motorcraft are winners.

I definitely hear what your saying it's just that money is really tight and I can get all that stuff for $30 more than if I just got the Motorcraft cap,rotor,wires. It comes to $141 for motorcraft cap,rotor, wires and $171 for all of the other stuff.
