First system I'd look at to disable would be the starter. Still by passable if the thieves carry a power supply, but has the benefit of not turning the engine over for lower level thieves.
Second system is the ignition, disable the injection or spark if gas.
A hidden relay that disables both those systems would be very difficult to bypass, even if thieves are given a good amount of time
Seems like an item someone could put together…a basic kill switch and a few wires with an instruction sheet…and there would be good interest.
When I started the thread I thought for sure someone would post a link to a $99 DIY Kit (made up of $30 worth of parts and a photocopied install sheet) but it seems that doesn’t exist.
Surprising with all the fascination with these SD trucks !

Kind what I was hoping for also. I subscribed to the thread just to keep an eye out for such information.
So I just finished talking w/ a friend of mine who has been a fleet mechanic for a few decades about the kill switch idea. My old school idea of simply cutting the wire that goes 12v+ when the key is turned forward is not so simple after all. He said w/ the level of integration in today's vehicles the computer could see the open circuit and set a code if the 12v+ wire goes to a BCM (body control module)
Cutting a switch into the wire that supplies power to the fuel pump might be a better idea as long as the switch is rated for the full load current of the fuel pump.

And such a kit would be useless because it would be easy for thieves to defeat.

True enough.
I think if I could have a cheap hidden kill switch in a place selected by the owner, along with a simple cheap faraday pouch for the remote, and cut out half of the potential thefts, I’d be much safer than the average SD.
The rare outliers that tow trucks or can get into your truck and find and then choose to rewire a hidden unmarked kill switch….I guess that is always going to be a possibility. A VERY slight one I would have to guess…but a possibility.
I don’t want to be the low hanging fruit for thieves without spending $700 for a full system is all we are trying to do here. It may help other SD owners as well.

Most anything can be defeated. I think the point trying to be made is that it will slow down a large percentage of thieves enough to make them move on. Cut down on the grab & go or become less of a target of opportunity.
why are you posting a link to a clickbait YouTube video? Do not waste your time clicking on this link as it is one minute long and it shows a guy carrying his camera phone walking up to a truck that somebody starts and drives off

Agreed. Zero information there. A staged "theft" that leads to nothing. Anyone could have made that video with a cell phone and a friend to drive their truck away and then just end it with no useful information like that guy did.
I agree it is a cheesy video but isnt this from Powerstroke teck talk w/ARod that i see quoted on here often. If you all care to watch till the end he has an email address you can contact for info on a killswitch Which is the topic. Geesh
