OK, just got a new '03 Supercrew with 5.4L and want to give it a reasonable boost.....planning free flowing exhaust and better induction system. Any recommendations/suggestions on which induction system to use? I've looked at K&N 77 series but know there are many others available......
The last time I checked K&N does not have a FIPK for the the 03's yet for Ca. due to smog sticker. Don't know about any other state. You can put a kit on but it depends on if you want it smog legal or not.I would suggest asking K&N youself.
Karenj: Thanks. I did contact K&N and, as you say, they have not officially released kits for the '03's yet. Did you go with a single 3" exhaust? I'm planning to head to local performance muffler shop to do either magnaflow or flowmaster but haven't decided on single 3" or dual 2.5".
I went with the single 3". I think that you would like either one of those mufflers their both good high flow mufflers. It's a matter of prefference on dual or single and to, one is more$$$$$$ than the other.
Follow up on K&N induction.....talked with K&N again...their Typhoon #77-2514KP is for the '03 4.6 and 5.4L engines. They have not officially listed one of their FIPK units for '03's yet. They told me the Typhoon is actually an improvement over the FIPK.
Let me know how it comes out , how you like it and if it makes a difference.I saw the Typhoon but I was told not legal in the Golden State for smog purposes. Anyways, I'm real curious of the purchace you've made.E-mail me or Keep me posted. Rich
Hi. I have the 03 f150 supercre 5.4 3.73 rr. I did the flomaster cat back and got some improvment in power and gas. it also lowered the peak performance range buy 100 r.p.m. to aroun 3000 r.p.m. but when I added just the K&N replacment filter "WOW" big jumps accross the bord. Have not dyno'ed it since the K&N but will soon, I look foreward to your results with the typhoon.
i would suggest going to ebay and searching for an f150 intake, they have plenty of cold air intakes w/ chrome pipes and kn style filters on the end and are extremely cheaper than a kn name one. and it will fit an 03, i have one on my 03.
