I'm an old guy as well. You may want to consider copying (or have some youngster do it for you) your CDs over to a USB thumb drive. You can have hundreds of songs on there and the stereo will play it just fine. That is a lot less to mess with while driving!

This. I have over 1800 songs loaded onto a thumb drive. Use it in the truck and on my boat.
I guess the question is if I put my favorite cd,s on a thumb drive can I select which cd i want to listen to or do they just play in order?
Let's see if a "current" user can give a "now" experience, as I have not set mine up yet. I know that in my '19 Super Duty, I could create playlists (that could be CD names, or artists, or a list of songs that you want grouped together) and select what I wanted to play.
Now if I could only transfer my 237 LP albums to a thumb drive...
About 10 years ago, I digitized a whole bunch of albums, dropped them in a folder. Told RIP Google Music to automatically upload them. I could then play all my albums in my car.
What I have been doing for years is ripping my CD's to a hard drive and then copying a selection (play list) to USB thumb drives. Much easier to make use of the USB Type A ports provided in cars and trucks. I use different color USB thumb drives to make it easier to identify them and on each I keep a short selection so easier to find what I want to hear.
The burned MP3 files can also be copied to a smartphone so no need to use Apple Car Play or Siri and share all your personal information with the world.
