When I need to drive cross country, I rent a car because it keeps mileage off my vehicles; if it breaks, they come get it, give me a replacement, and I don't pay for repairs, and I have are very good rental rate with unlimited mileage. I have done this for the last 20 years.
Renting a car is a good way to do it. Road trips will only get easier as charging infrastructure gets built out. Are you getting an extended-range Lightning, or the standard pack?

I ordered a Platinum which has all the whistles and bells. So 300 mile range. I live south Florida so pretty much no hills or cold weather.
i negotiated a rental agreement for a major corp years ago so I have lifetime access to exceptional rental rates. I know many can’t do what I do, but even if I paid rack rates the analysis for longer trips and wear and tear on my POV just doesn’t make financial sense.

no pictures of 23 cancelled that order and bought a 22 demo with 800 miles and no factory deletes. Saved money in the process. Will send pictures of 22!
