Received an email this morning from ford telling of a new towing calculator on the ford.com website under the owner dashboard.
Link in the email takes you to the site to logon and try it, but when I tried it would let me logon, but then got a popup window with a new "Terms and Conditions" agreement that you have to click to agree, but every time I clicked on it, nothing happens.
So, don't know if they just rolled this new deal out before everything was fully fleshed out, or if there was just too much traffic with everyone getting this email and trying to logon.
Anyway, it is supposed to use your truck info going by your VIN, then you enter what extra stuff you are carrying and extra people, and then it is supposed to tell you how much trailer your truck can pull.
Has anyone else tried it and been able to get in???
Well, its a web site made by Ford, so, not unexpected since it took them nearly a year to get the build and price working correctly when the 2020 F-150 came out.
Well, I plugged in a typical trailer and loading for my truck and it spit out a RIDICULOUS max 5th wheel capacity of 10820 pounds with a 1623 pin weight!
Very screwy.
Conventional tow shows 1500 tongue and 15000 trailer weight.
So, my opinion is that this calculator is absolutely screwy!
Using Ford default of 300 pounds driver weight with zero cargo or accessories showed a 14123 trailer tow capacity.
I can tell you that my truck has towed much more than Ford says it should, and that is without going over the axle or tire ratings.
So, this calculator sucks.

Yeah I agree, this calculator is pretty much garbage lol.
I got in by logging in to my account and then dasboard, it shows my 22 Dually despite having over 6100 pounds of payload only able to carry 3000 pounds of pin weight for a fifth wheel, Truck is a 7.3 with the 4:30
I did the same today and initially I had the same results. To find it I had to log in then go to My Account>Vehicle Dashboard. Scroll down to the "Your Vehicle" section and you'll see the Towing Calculator.

That's surprising. Mine showed the exact payload capacity (3485 for my '21 CCSB Diesel SRW) printed on the door sticker. The 5th wheel pin weight number it calculated (2732) was the same as I came up with myself using the passenger, cargo and hitch weights. Wonder why yours didn't? Perhaps a glitch in their system.
