Is it possible (practical) to convert an F350 DRW to a SRW and keep the M300 rear axle? My understanding is that the front axle is the same (minus adapters?). If I ever pursue this I would just purchase a SRW bed (pretty cheap these days).
just looking a little into the future when I no longer need the dually capabilities (a smaller camper).
Or, would a person be better off trying to locate someone with the same color (Oxford White in my case) wanting to do the opposite conversion?
I don't think it's worth doing what you describe and the only benefit would be the on-paper GVWR and axle ratings (tires and wheels would now be the limiting factor). The only time I could see it making sense is doing a "super-single" conversion for an offroad camper set up (like Earthroamer for ex.)

Dually rear axle is much longer than a SRW to compensate for the reversed inner dually wheel, so it is not going to work correctly as a SRW axle.
Trading trucks is the best bet.
