This has most defintly been talked about but is there a way to disable the hi idle when starting in cold weather? I wish you could program to act like my old 7.3 where it would start and idle normally than slowly ramp up to hi idle. Id even like to just fully disable the hi idle and let it start normally than if needed i can use my hi idle kit to bump the idle. Ive worked with diesels for over 18 years now and never heard of an engine cold starting and going directly into a hi idle, wouldnt you want to get the oil moving first before revving the hell outta it?
Ive looked in Forscan but couldnt find anything related to the hi idle or start sequence. Anyone have any info on disabling the hi idle?
The truck is also fully deleted and running a "stock" tune that does not add any power it just tells the truck theres no emissions.
Thanks

Yes, normal...all trucks I have do it.....usually around 1-1100rpm.
Just don't remote start it and forget to get the key into the truck and have it shut down on you with it screaming at 1,100 rpm.....I've screamed at my guys more then once for that......

I understand it's normal, I just don't want it anymore haha. Looking to see if anyone's figured a way to disable it.
Here is was -24f thrusday night. So even plugged in truck went right to elevated idle.
This morning it was -3F, i knew it was going to hi idle but my end goal is to disable it. I have PIA neighbors who love to complain about anything I do so when I leave at 5am and the truck is screaming even for a minute I know I'll have some kind of issue with them at some point.

One thing that bugs me is that even after 15 mins it's still at 1,100 rpm and putting it into gear.....you'd think after touching the brake before shifting, it would drop down.....nope
Mine started high idle when cold after the last recall 20E07 but the idle drops as soon as I put my foot on the brake. I don't worry about it because I don't let it idle for more than a minute or two when remoted started.
I still have yet to experience a high idle from cold start in my 2019. The lowest temp I've been in with this truck was about 14f. Maybe it was elevated a little but not enough to catch my attention? I see mention of 1k rpm, 1100 rpm, to me that isn't my idea of reving the hell out of it. What rpm are you experiencing immediately after start up?
The parking brake must be engaged for high idle at cold to start itself.
If you don't want it to happen, don't engage the parking brake.
That is different then what he is taking about.
You are referring about a operator initiated high idle via an up fitter switch to raise your idle when stationary.
A cold start elevated idle is computer controlled and the truck automatically sets idle speed. I have seen mine anywhere from 900 to 1,100 with this. The truck can run for a good 20 mins before it begins to fall to normal idle speed, sometimes longer the colder it is. And when I say cold....I mean cold, not 40f degrees cold I need a winter coat got to plug my truck in now like my neighbor does with his brand new Dmax, im talking 10-15f or colder is when the truck starts doing this.

Correct, same here. I suppose you could say this is a 3rd form of "high idle". After 20E07 mine will do this when sitting running in park for a while and I do not have my upfitter on for operator high idle. Like you said, with this form, it goes to normal idle after tapping the break pedal. The quickest way to know is it is 20E07 is the exhaust has a different tone to it and smells like burnt brownies.......a regen even smells different.....so what's going on in there IDK.
