Am I reading the fuel pressure right? 1988 7.5L EFI
When facing the truck, on the left (passenger side) of the fuel rail is a Schrader valve. The stem seems down the hole a bit (not very close to the top). So I hooked up the pressure test adapter to that and turned the ignition on. I can clearly hear the rear (in tank) pump for the forward tank. But the pressure reads zero. I screwed the adapter down more, thinking it wasn't opening the valve... Still nothing.
So I pushed the stem on the schrader valve and got nothing.
Q1. is this the right place to check the fuel pressure?
Q2. should there be pressure without the engine running and the ignition on and would fuel come out if I press the stem inside the valve?
So far, everything seems to be pointing to the fuel pump on the fuel rail and/or the fuel pump in the same area.
BTW, which one of these is the correct one for the rail pump?

Seems they list 3 or 4 Carter elec pumps.

I think you should see gas forced out of the schrader valve if you depress it after the fuel pump has cycled.
The test kit I borrow from autozone wasnt reading pressure despite there being gas in the rail. Like you were wondering, the test kit wasn't pressing deep enough into the valve to open it. I removed the valve core and then the test kit would read pressure. Its the same type of removal as with a tire valve stem. Gas is leaked so be prepared for that.
