Heres something you might need to know about your 6.0 fuel pump/re-cycling valve body
the fuel pump, they tell me, has a valve on the pump, one line goes to the engine, and another cycles the fuel back into the tank, this is to keep the fuel warm and not let it freeze ( I live in florida, an option I really didnt need) this in lies the problem seemed the valve was re-cycling more fuel than it was sending to the engine, when the computer sinced a drop in pressure it shuts the truck down.!
they replaced the pump and valve, checked the tank for trash and it seemes fixed (fingers cross).
something else the pump is not mounted inside the tank like most EFI cars/trucks.
As with any EFI, fuel pressure or the lack of, will cause all kinds of problems, stumbling, ruff idle, complete shut down, sluggish, all round lack of power, its the first step in the fuel system.
I know some of the 03's and 04's had a heater in the HCFM but on the later trucks they did away with that. There isn't a fuel pressure sensor to shut the truck down--your fuel pump just quit. You can actually start your truck and it will IDLE if you pull the fuel pump plug--the injectors will draw fuel from the tank. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME as it is EXTREMELY hard on the injectors. When your fuel pressure drops below 40 psi it's killing your injectors, hence the need for a fuel pressure gauge. The recycle valve was to heat the fuel in cold conditions and when the truck warmed up it shut off. I'm not saying you didn't have a problem with your recycle valve, but someone explained it to you incorrectly and I'm just trying to clarify.
