I just did Hydra install in my e99 7.3 F250 had a question as to why grounding clip is removed when pcm is reinstalled under dash. Everything I've read has stressed how critical good clean tight grounds are to the 7.3's operation. Seems counterintuitive to leave pcm without proper grounding. I've tried contacting PHP but have not gotten any answers. I have had Banks stinger plus installed for 20+ years and had been happy with it's performance gains in the lower rpm ranges. With Hydra, whole different truck. I live in SoCal so under Gavin Newsoms thumb for smog check every two years, anyone know if I can set to 00 factory calibration and pass or is it better to completely remove from truck?
from what I have been reading, PHP says that with the Tune set to 00 it is in OEM Stock Tune and will pass emissions, and is undetectable.
I bought the Hydra because of its' flexibility to be Stock OEM when needed on the Fly.
or to be Whisper Quiet when I am trying to order at a Fast Food drive up.
or to switch to one of the lower HP modes and again, that is all "on the fly"
the biggest reason though, was being able to switch to High Idle when we are parked and the 3 dogs are in the back while we tour a museum or leave the truck unattended for a bit.
we left the dogs in the RV with the Generator running, and the gas tank went dry, it has a leak and I did not know it..... the dogs were really hot and panting when we came back out of the Aircraft Museum we stopped out.
I believe the PCM clip can interfere with fit when reinstalling and break something. Seems I asked the same question but was assured it didn’t matter and PHP explicitly stated to remove the clip.
The CA guys will have to answer to the specifics of if the chip needs removed. I would be concerned they would question your switch, or spot the chip sticking out of the PCM box.
But you guys are correct, 00 is stock bypass mode. To actually go into stock bypass you need to follow a sequence, it will not do that on the fly.
1- engine off
2- key on
3- set to 00
4- wait for display blink indicating tune switched ~3 seconds
5- key off
6- key on & start
Reverse operation for coming out of bypass. Switching out of it while engine running is not smooth. I have that trophy.
John, don’t get too excited about whisper mode. I find it’s still too loud for drive thru ordering. Yeah I was bummed first time I tried it and they said “I can’t hear you can you turn off your engine.” I was like, “but but but it’s whisper mode 😢”
Fact or fiction# 1- the library has a no run tune ? #2- you can set it to no run, unplug the cable, and take the controler with you?
Fact
The last position on the hydra always has no start~ns. Put it in with key on, let it blink, the turn and remove key. Remove hydra controller, and truck wont start unless the hydra is removed off pcm

You can add a anti theft tune to position 1-15 which is a dead pedal. Truck will start and idle but accelerator pedal does nothing. Also all the hydras have a ns no start position after spot 15. You have to cycle the key for it like the 00 bypass mode. Switch it to ns and remove the controller and it will not start. Unless they reach down and pull the hydra chip out of the pcm.
