2006 5.4 running issue

2006 5.4 running issue
Trying to help My sons friend who is only 17
His timing chain was starting to slap, so He tore it down and replaced it. He is in auto shop class and wants to learn as much as he can
Well All looks good, but Now it wont stay running.
It starts and runs for about 10 seconds and then acts like its being starved of fuel or air, starts running really bad before dying.
Had it on the schools scanner ( Big snap on computer) and no codes
I have had him check all connections multiple times , and still doing it.
It ran good before he replaced the timing chain .
So I am at a loss as he has it running and idling after the timing chain was replaced but now it just stumbles and dies out.
He is missing a 02 sensor but that was missing before this repair.
His teacher said it could be clogged cats? But I feel it would stay running just not accelerate
IS there a actual picture of a 5.4 3 valve that I could look at to compare amd make sure everything is plugged in correctly? I cant find one anywhere

If this issue started after the timing chain replacement, they need to tear it down and redo the work since they obviously didn’t get it timed correctly. A scan tool won’t show this, only an oscilloscope with a pressure transducer.
A clogged cat is easy to diagnose by removing the pre-cat O2 sensor and putting a pressure gauge in its place.
