Towing capacity
For a 1988 f-150 single cab long bed xlt lariat what is the bumper pull towing capacity? It has a 3800 gawr in the rear. It has a 8.8 rear end I think. It has a 302 v8, with a AOD 4 speed automatic.
what is the 5th wheel/gooseneck one also if it has one?

3500 lbs. That AOD is a weak sister, and a 5th wheel/gooseneck is out of the question with that limit.

I saw that thread, but I figured it would be different being a 96 and I know newer trucks trim level affects towing so I just posted a new thread, while I’m asking this does anyone know payload?

Long answer: Payload is determined by subtracting the trucks empty weight (with driver and full fuel tanks) from it's gross vehicle weight rating.
Your door tag will specify what your GVWR is.
You empty-weight will very depending on your trucks configuration (2wd vs 4wd, long bed vs short bed, auto vs manual). A certified truck scale will charge you ~$12 to put your truck on their scales and get an real empty weight.
Short answer: About 1400 lbs.
