Problematic 6.0 Crank no start
I was driving my truck and it just stopped in the middle of the road. I took it to the Ford dealership and that said it needed new injectors. 3,200 dollars later I was able to pick it up. The battery had died sitting in their lot. I jump started the truck--it started but ran like a box of rocks. It was an afterhours pick up so I couldn't say anything but it was cold out so I thought it may be very cold--I added anti gel to the tank, and I took it home--15 miles, it never smoothed out. Next day, it cranked made it 2 miles from my driveway, began losing power and died. I thought it may be out of fuel, got 5 gallons of diesel in it. It started and made it half a mile back to a church--where it sat until I got off work. My husband and I got it started again and it dies within a few hundred feet. I called Ford and they told me the code was for the injectors and they fixed those--anything else was not on them and I would have to pay the $250 and have it towed back to their shop.
I started reading forums and thought that the FICM maybe bad. We removed the FICM and sent it to a shop that repairs them. They sent it back resealed and with warranty, so I am assuming there was something wrong with it. We installed the FICM and recharged the batteries--which keep dying (they are good batteries and not old). The truck started and idled for over half an hour. When I moved the truck down the driveway it began choking, lost power and died. It has not started since.
Thinking it maybe a fuel issue since it did start, we changed the fuel pump and both filters--again as suggested by other diesel guys. Truck still will not start. We went through the priming steps of leaving the key on for 30 seconds for 5 times, etc. We tried it with the air intake open to make sure it had enough air. We even opened the engine mounted fuel filter to verify fuel being pumped into the system. All good.
We gave it some starting fluid. It acts like it wants to start--if that makes since, but it just can't get there. I have hooked my plug-in scanner up to it and am not getting any codes.
Note: I had the oil cooler changed on this truck less than 2 years ago and the oil pump.
Please any help is greatly appreciated. I am still riding my motorcycle to work or getting rides from my parents, and damn Kentucky can get cold in Janurary.
