Anybody recognize these brackets/attachment points?
They are cast iron, about 7/8" inch in diameter, fit perfectly through the factory holes in the radiator support, and bolt to the front curve of the frame wheel arch, both sides passenger and driver. They don't look to be quite stout enough to serve as a snow plow mount, but do seem to have been on the truck since new. Perhaps for mounting auxilary lights?
You're right! Ford had a brush guard available! This is a picture labeled "rare factory brush guard". The brackets themselves are such a specific fit and so well made, too.
I did not know that was a factory guard. My neighbor growing up, had one on a 66 F100, and I thought it was cool at the time.
White truck with a red grill guard. Not sure it that was correct, but it was a pretty new truck back then.... Maybe 10 years old.
I'd have more feelings towards the large opening front fenders.... Hard to find in good shape. If they were only in factory raven black... They would look nice on my 4x4 uni.
Gosh no, absolutely not throwing them away! In fact my son is going to custom make a grill guard that will be very close to the original. Also, he's going to be making sets of the supports if anybody else is interested. He already has one order for a set, might as well make several sets for those who are interested. They are not cast iron as mentioned earlier, rather they are 1" steel rod.
If anybody would like to notify the people interested in brush guard brackets, they can PM me about getting some made. Happy to help out any Slicksters. Thanks!
