N90 = LN900 gas

L = 534 4V Super Duty gas V8

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

P92030 = 1972 numerical series, very late production.

138 = 138 inch wheelbase

No color code--truck is a special order so paint may have been part of that.

N902 = LN900 gas, 27,500 lbs GVWR

4A8 = Black vinyl and standard cab

U = Dana (Spicer) model 6852-G five speed direct transmission

DP5
DP = Eaton model 19221 two speed rear axle, 6.17 / 8.40 ratios. 22,000 or 23,000 lbs capacity.

5 = Ford 9,000 lb capacity front axle without power steering

27500 = 27,500 lbs GVWR

239 3000 = 239 certified net HP @ 3000 RPM

521140

52 = Dallas District Sales Office (previously Des Moines from '64 to '71)

1140 = Special Order Number

A great truck in it's day. Depending on what you're doing with it, could still be good. 534s are thirsty and tough to find parts for, and the 27,500 GVWR is CDL territory.

What kind of brakes?

with the air brakes you might need a air brake endorsement.for my truck ,the MN DOT made me get a DOT number because the truck weighted over 10K .but they gave me a non-commercial plate for 15K and under .take to your insurance agent first ,better talk to the wife first

OP is in Texas. CDL rules are Federal and as such are pretty consistent nationwide. Exemptions vary a little by state, but the two that come to mind are agriculture--hauling your own product within 150 miles, and RVs.

As to air brakes. There is no air brake endorsement. There is a RESTRICTION on the CDL if the operator does not test with air brakes. The list of endorsements and restrictions appears in the link below. They do not list a restriction to automatic transmission if you test with one. That has been mentioned by others in previous CDL discussion. OP has a manual trans and airbrakes so that's not going to be a concern for him.

If you get pinched driving a commercial vehicle without the CDL, it will make getting a CDL a longer and tougher process.

To and from parades and meetings....

Copied from the above link:

I certify I am the owner of the above-described vehicle, and as statutorily required, I also certify the frame, body, and motor are at least 25 years old; the vehicle is a collector’s item that will be used solely for exhibition, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest; it is not a replica or aftermarket vehicle; will not be used for daily transportation except when routine maintenance is needed; and will not carry advertising

That's about as much as what most on here would buy a large truck for anyway.
