1956 Mercury Value

Hello,

Curious on opinions on what you would pay for this truck? 1956 Mercury M-100, r

estored roughly 15 years ago. Y block engine, Fordomatic transmission. Interior is done in tweed. Some wiring needs finished. Changed to 9 inch rear end. Stock drum brakes and axles. Exhaust is modified. Aftwrmarket wheels. Overall the truck shows well. Not original, but not really restomodded. Body is immaculate, minus a few tiny stone chips

Pondering selling

Curious what the Americans on here would value it at or pay.

If it had the correct tail lights I'd spend a lot more for it. I always wanted a 56 Mercury

Well I'll take the first stab at it. Since a '56 1/2 ton has been on my wish list for awhile, I've been following prices in case I came across a scratch lottery ticket that was a winner.

If that truck were $25,000....(US).....It would sell extremely quick. If it were $28,000 it would sell without much waiting. If it were $30,000 it would still find a buyer but might take longer and weeding out the fussy half-hearted time wasters. The recent downturn in the economy would likely make it hard to find a buyer in the higher 30's unless it was a bidding war between two or more who love everything about it. Trucks well into the higher 30's or 40's usually have more modern brakes, steering, and suspension.
That is just my opinion and based on the local to me buying environment. Other parts of the US may vary.

I really like that truck cause Mercury pickups aren't common around here and would be proud to have it in my driveway.
Will follow this thread.

I am not sure what I like more. Your truck, or your man-cave.
Meantime I tried looking your truck up on Hagerty's Insurance classic vehicle valuation tools. The closest I could get was a 52 M-1. Unfortunately it doesn't list an M-100. So I ran a 56 F-100, it shows the average sales of an excellent truck at around $44,500 u.s. and almost $30,000 u.s. for a good condition pretty much stock truck. So then a guy has to wonder how much more a Mercury would bring. The good news here is even though the market softened last October, it appears it has improved. Hagerty is showing trucks in good and fair conditions up 11 to 20% respectively.

I found that a recently-sold '56 Ford F-100 with the rare big back window, supercharged V8 and some upgraded modifications went for $35,100 after 17 bids were placed. Se E-Bay listing eBay item number:285086336741 as that example. It was a very nice looking truck. I think it would have fetched more money if it had two tail-lights instead of one.
