Yeah, that's how it goes but I'm NOT complaining. It's great for a bench, tools and equipment with room to move around, an '01 Subaru or '17 Ford Escape fits in there as well.
WAY better than in my past, working not only out in the cold but in the parking lot of an apartment complex or on street parking; knowing I'm being observed and should I leave for even a *moment* "they" will come to take my stuff.
Here is quiet and relatively secure.
last winter I parked my wife's new Pilot outside in the cold for 3 weeks, 3 VERY UNHAPPY 'WIFE-NAGGING' weeks. I was able to jocky my F250 4wd, CCSB sideways/width wise, into the 3 car spots, taking up all 3 of course.
I bought a torpedo multi-fuel heater with a thermostat and was able to teardown the entire top end components in relative comfort vs being cold and outside where my HOA Nzi's would have covered me in tickets.
And I CAN pull in, but not too far, if I just need to get out of the rain or do small repairs in the cooler weather; the torpedo heater makes a big difference.
I have one car garage side dedicated to auto parts, detailing materials, tools, blast cabinet, parts washer, 80 gal compressor and the like; your point is a good one.
My last, NON - HOA house had a 30x29 garage, anything was possible then, but I was single and not wanting to live next to a swimming pool and tennis court... that we haven't used (but pay for annually) in >6 years.
Thanks gentleman! Mine does see quite a bit of garage time, especially in the winter. But I try to rotate a trickle charger to these items every so often. The current draw is likely not a concern.
F350, Seems I might be OCD+ADD so it could go either way for me.
Funny about the missing GPR likely showing up in July. Sounds about right!
I also had planned on doing the GPR LED and even bought some LEDs for the job. But after reading and thinking a bit more I decided that it wasn’t worth the hassle for me. My deciding factors for your consideration. 1- the LED can still light even with a partially working GPR. 2- a digital voltage display (like others have shown) would do a better job of showing glow plug operation. 3- the GPR can easily be crossed to make it operate on the chance it goes out unexpectedly.
I’m the opposite and grant extra coolness points for functional mods that are invisible.
And to be clear, no arguments here. You guys do you. Each person has a preference and the variety is what makes things great. Except for the Carolina squat and rubber band tires. I’ll argue about those...
you were reading my mind on the squat!!
What I like about the comments here are the variations of the same mod, while I like the bumper mounted heater plugs, I HATE the idea of drilling into my exterior metalwork. Although absolutely awesome, I hear my truck cry when I get a door ding from someone I will never find to punch in the face for doing so.
The OCD that gets triggered in my head is hard for me to ignore, but keep the ideas flowing this way please.
For the trickle charger quick connect I was considering something on the passenger side similar to F350’s radiator mount NOCO plug. “12v SAE flush mount” gave me a lot of choices at Amazon. I would add a fuse near the battery, or pick one that comes with it already. Noticed both 12ga & 10ga choices and some varying lengths. Would need to take some measurements to see how long but I wouldn’t be against a short one then soldering in what I wanted from there.
WARNING: Some of these have red wire pinned opposite than battery chargers. In that case I would cut it near the port and rewire red/black since they likely need a fuse and ring ends anyhow.

Every year at deer camp I charge the trailer battery every night with my truck. I have zero interest in solar, doesnt work well with 5" of snow on the panels. My boy gave me a set of energizer 20' jumper cables with the modular plug mounted next to the passenger side fog lite. Pull back into camp, point the exhaust down wind and let it charge for a couple of hours. We all sleep well with the furnace doing it's thing.
It's the seatbelt release that's been a bit of a challenge.

some det cord to cut the seat belts, and seat rails loose, two airbags out of a 90's caprice steering wheel mounted under the seat and as long s there is a sunroof or T top over the passenger seat some, then some 12 volt wiring to a switch and relay along with some squibs to set of the det cord and its a done deal. ask me about the adventures of GM airbags some time.... we launched one friend about 15 feet in the air with two of them.

I like the hidden aspect of the Wirthcos under my hood. Only those observing when I have my hood open see it, stating "that's a good idea, I oughta do that..."
Interestingly, the visible Marinco mod has been a conversation starter on several occasions, though it's been installed only a few months. It's been strictly diesel guys that've noticed it and brought it up, again claiming they might do the same.
I had given some thought to installing the Marinco in a more hidden location but wanted to be able to readily access the plug should it need to be cleaned or whatever.

LOL, this post just kept getting better and better.

Heat is not too much of a concern here but cooling is. When I used to work outside I'd use a portable swamp cooler which helped a lot, along with a shade canopy. Now with my 1,200 sq ft garage with 12 foot ceiling and a big swamp on the roof no problems. If I were single I'd be thinking about a big shop with living quarters instead of a house.
A post from 2021(?) where you installed a tail gate latch/handle with a camera inside it. When I did my research, I did not find any re iees that showed the ones I saw from China were depe doable or quality. Hoping this is a Ford part.
I am looking at the mods thread with lots of good tips.
