LTL 9000 decode
It has serial number for 1977, but the model code only comes up for 1978 as a DSO.
Does it have a gas or diesel engine?
I'll be back later today on this.
L = Cummins NTC 350
V = Kentucky Truck Plant
026845 = 1977 numerical series, September 1976 production*
204 = 204 inch wheelbase
3 = Dark Red Metallic
A900 = 1978-on LT900 DSO, 44,800 lbs GVWR*
HG8 = I don't have upholstrey info, but it looks like Custom Cab without butterfly hood.
No transmission, probably part of the special order
No rear axle, again, probably part of the special order
P = Rockwell (Timken) model FF-903 front axle, 12,000 lbs capacity with power steering
44800 = 44,800 lbs GVWR
87026
87 = Body Company
0206 = Special Order Number
* I can't explain the discrepancy in the production serial number and month of scheduled production, which would point to a 1977 model, vs. the model designation etc that points to a 1978 model. All of these under "A90" were special order trucks. That it was sold to a body company, plus the transmission and axle being part of the special order might have something to do with it.
Is there any other history, or company markings or other clues about it?
I take it the truck is badged as "LTL 9000"?
