how much weight can I carry safely without worrying about breaking a spring.... how would adding springs i.e 1 versus to help? thanx

look at your GVW sticker on the door jamb and then go get it weighed with fuel tanks full and you in the cab. then the difference is the legal weight capacity. adding leafs will not increase the legal capacity, just the actual capacity.personally I like to get a new set of the highest capacity springs available for your chassis(F-150 Ranges from 5000lbs to 7490, various years)some F-250's have the same spring width as some F-150's so this opens up some options. bottom line,dollar for dollar go with new springs they are cheaper than you think. when shopping for springs measure the width and many ford springs will interchange.

There is also one more factor to consider, the limit of the axle, type me with your axle code or go to the forum and see axle codes, on there is a list of axle ratios and wieght limits for axle.
