What is the top speed that you guys have hit in your broncos through the years of 1987-1996
I know they are slow and arn't meant to be fast at all! lol, but I would like to know how fast you guys have gone.
Theres no way mine could have a fast top speed at all mine has the 5.8 efi with the 3 spd auto (C-6) and 3.55 limited slip rear end..
I'm just really curious to know and I dont want to find out for myself for fear of breaking something and getting a ticket because I can't speed around here, way too many cops.
i have a '93 with a 5.8 efi engine, i topped it out by the second week i had (had it little over a year now) it. it was on the interstate doing 95ish, not completely topped out- but close enough for me in a bronco. -wb
1990 5.8, around 95 or so. I'd have to use my GPS to find out for sure. My 95 F150 I6 had a governor that shut it down at 93. The Bronc does not seem to have one, it has an aerodynamic governor!
Greystreak was capable of 109-110 according to police laser. OOPS! The 93 has gotten to the stop peg on the speedo but I have no idea exactly how much beyond the printed numbers that was.
I have never had mine above 85 mph. I am too afraid of a moose or something running infront of my truck. On top of that I don't trust truck tires that much!
In my own defense, BOTH of my Bronco's have been runners. The kind of vehicle you look down to check the gauges and suddenly realize "HOLY SH**! I'm doing 97"! Personally, I have only achieved these speeds on long flat runs. I-70 through Kansas could be driven whith ones eyes closed and as long as the alignment on the truck is ok. Obviously, I was not aware of my speed when I discovered GS's top end.
I don't take my 82 over 80, but my 83 I wound thatthing up down I-410 here in san antonio I had that speedo buried. After about 15 min. down the hyway, we got to my friends house the hubs were hot as hell and a little smoke from the bearings.
I got the needle on my old '88 to the overdrive symbol on the gear indicator, but have no idea how fast that actually is because its beyond the 85mph max the speedometer gives us.
It wasnt a bronco, but In my old 1984 Ford F-150, I had taken all out of it that wasnt necessary (heater, emissions, all that crap) and put alot of work into the 351w, had 3.07 gears in the rear, I took that thing up past 120. So, - anything is possible.
Oh, and funny enough, I live in Kansas City, I got that topspeed on I-70 as well, on the turnpike between Lawerence and Manhattan. Too much fun had on that highway:P
