Just purchased a 2000 Excursion
I drove the Excursion 500 miles home yesterday and found the passenger side mirror has a blind spot. I almost changed lanes onto a Civic. I think the mirrors are tow mirrors, but they are kind of odd. The driver side mirror is close to the door, but the passenger side mirror is extended. I can't move either mirror in or out. Are they supposed to be fixed in position? Or they stuck in position? I've read several threads about upgrading to 08 tow mirrors for about $250. I don't mind spending the money if the 08 mirrors eliminate the blindspot. Again, this will be my wife's truck and I won't let her drive it with the blind spot. Opinions on the performance of 2000 mirrors versus the 2008 mirrors will be appreciated. I'm not concerned about appearances as both look OK to me.
I will be removing the lift and returning it to near normal height. My wife is 5' 2" tall. The lift measures 26" from the center of the axle to the front wheel arch cladding and 27" from the center of the axle to the rear wheel arch cladding. I've read several threads about using F250 Superduty springs. I called Junior at ATS. He suggests V code in front and C code in rear with stock Excursion tapered blocks. If I understand correctly, these springs should net no more than 1.5" lift over the stock Excursion springs. Can anyone confirm this?
The truck currently has 2019 F250 Superduty 18x8 six (double) spoke wheels with wheel spacers and 295/70/18 aggressive Cooper all terrain tires. The truck actually came with 2 spares - both spares on 18x8 six spoke wheels. I will be replacing these 34" Cooper all terrains with smaller 32" Michelin 275/65/18 LTX/AT2 all terrains. The Michelin LTX/AT2's have served me well on my 1998 Dodge diesel and our 2004 GMC Yukon. If I understand correctly, 2004 F250 King Ranch 18x8 wheels will fit my 2000 Expedition without wheel spacers. Has anyone used these wheels on their Excursion?
Thanks for the help!

If I remember correctly, most people who installed V/C codes had a measurement around 24-24.5" front and 25-25.5" rear.
V/C code along with 32-33" tires should drop you 2-3" it sounds like.

The ‘04 OEM 18”x8” series of wheels are the only OEM 16”+ wheels that fit our EXs properly without the need of spacers, they came in 4 flavors though, not just King Ranch, here’s a thread that shows all 4 versions. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post16064812 I run the Lariat version on my wagon.
As was said above, your mirrors seem to be stuck, give them a persuasive shove to get them back in the game. My EX came with the tiny paddle mirrors and I replaced them with the period correct larger towing mirrors like you have then a few years later replaced those with a set of the ‘08 style towing mirrors. The ‘08 style (mine were from 1AAuto.com) are hands down the better option in my opinion, I tow a lot and those mirrors cover more area with less blind spots over the earlier options.
We need some pictures of of this excellent condition ‘00 EX, we love Pictures here!

For a few bucks more, I would go with 1A Auto and be reassured that my customer service will be up to par.
Just my thoughts.

WOW!! $2200 for a set of 4 not including center caps? I understand why the wheels are always available.
just plain ole Black Steel wheels are good enough for you,
I bought 8 of these,
4 for AT tires,
4 for Michelin street treads
they look to be OEM, black steel wheels.
this is one time, Dorman is the only source I could find, after searching every where, salvage yards charge more than this, for used rims that show damage.
the auto parts stores won't even order these things, at least they wouldn't for me
Yeah, those ones are not cheap, but they do pop up sometimes on Craigslist or marketplace for much cheaper. I gave $600 for my Lariats with 50% rubber several years ago and paid $750 for a set Harleys with brand new Michelins for a friend here a few years ago. When they do pop up don’t delay, as they tend to not stick around long once available!
