I have a 2011 F250 Superduty. It came with 2 of the multibuttoned keys that would lock and unlock the doors, remote start the truck, turn on the alarm, etc. The buttons on one key just stopped working. I thought it was the battery in the key and replaced it to no avail. The buttons were evidently just worn out. Not wanting to pay the $300 my Ford dealer wanted for a new key, I purchased 2 off of eBay for $20 that looked identical to my keys. I took them to a locksmith for cutting and programming. He was able to cut them but couldn’t get any of the buttons to work. But it would start the truck and the dash displayed the message, “Starting System Fault.” If you pressed ok, the message would go away and everything is normal. After an hour, he told me, the keys from eBay had the wrong RFID Chip and wouldn’t program.
So off to eBay again and after back and forth with a seller, I get another key that he assured me had the correct RFID chip. Back to the locksmith and same thing, but this time all of the buttons worked. I could lock and unlock, hit the alarm, or start the truck remotely. But…. the damn “Starting System Fault” displays again every time you start the truck. The locksmith gave up and said just drive it, everything else is fine. So now, every time I start the truck, I have to press OK to get rid of the message.
I surrender. Anyone know how to get rid of that annoying message without paying the Dealer $300 for another key?

I too bought eBay keys for my 2015 F-250, no remote start but I programmed them myself with the Forscan software and the OBD cable. Been using them fo a year now without any problems.
