Im looking at purchasing a 56 F600 dup truck, running, driving, needs some work but pretty cool. 272 Y block, 4 speed, 2 speed rear. Dump bed works. Whats a reasonable price if Im buying?,
I have not seen it in person yet, but seller says "new wheels and tires"
As long as the seller is completely honest about that, that could be a huge bonus/value.
Generally big trucks have far less value than the more sought after small trucks; big trucks are much harder to find parts for or work on, and the proportions aren't the same as small trucks obviously.
But we need pictures to really give a good estimate.
Going into this completely blind with your limited description and good safe wheels with new rubber, I'd say $3-5k. But I'd always be very weary of paying more than $4k for any big vintage truck, not likely to get that out of it if you ever needed to sell.
HOLY CRAP.
He got Budd tubless rims, cleaned them up and painted them, put new rubber on, and it has tow hooks! The front end looks very rust free, and very strait, bumper is even nice--they are often trashed on old workhorses.
It would not surprise me if he wanted more than $6-8k, who knows. But she's a nice truck, very nice. Unless there were some specific reason, I'd try and keep it below 5k. But that's my opinion. Big trucks just don't bring $$$
He wants 8.5K, but he is considering trading me for my HD Chopper , that is quite nice, worth 6 or 7 K.. Thoughts? I had to sell my 56 F100 in my last divorce, so I'm looking for a familiar friend to restore.

If you want to get rid of the bike, I think that is a good trade. Hard to put dollar values on this stuff. Right person right time is often the case for trades.

It may seem like a familiar friend, but do you really want an F600? It's not the same as an F100, you can't have nearly as much fun with it, which is why they are less popular, and less valuable. If you really, truly think it's cool, and want a big ol' truck, then fine. If you're seeing this and reminiscing, you may give it some time to really sink in what you're pulling the trigger on. My 2c, because I see puppies where others see something completely different all the time, and spend a fair amount of time talking myself out of projects that look inviting.
Wise choice, while I would love to have that truck as well, it's not very practical.
He spent a pretty penny on those wheels and tires. I don't think his price is too far off, but I know next to nothing about pricing. It will make a great truck for someone that is looking for a big truck.
That's the deal with a big truck, very cool but not as easy to deal with as an F100.
