1988 F-150 computer question

Hi, I have a 1988 F-150 4.9 with a door sticker of calibration R-51E-R00.

The computer I found on the front seat is e8tf-12a650-z2b

Somebody online here said my calibration crossed over to E8TZ 12A650-ZA or E8TZ 12A650-ZB

The computer installed also ends in Z2B so it's likely the same E8TF number (number blocked by connector to read the whole thing and too rainy to pull it out of the connector with bolt)

I have no clue which is the original (I think they are both E8TF) but the computer is just sitting in the engine bay so it has clearly been tampered with.

Thinking the forum cross reference guide might be wrong?

Welcome to FTE

An engineering number that starts E8TF would be an original part.

An engineering number that contains a Z like E8TZ is a "service" or " factory Ford" replacement part.

I personally have never run across a "Z' in a elsewhere on a Ford engineering number (like your example), but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

The ending numbers are usually considered "revision" numbers, like 1.2 or 2.1, etc.
