Anyone out there in FTE land have a complete wiper arm mechanism (need everything) in their spare parts bin they are willing to give up? It's for a 53 f100. Email me, lets talk $$.
Throughout the years, I have tried to "modify" mechanisms from other newer cars, but none seem to work right.
This is my last chance before I take the "aftermarket" plunge and have to explain to the wife why I spent big bucks on wipers.......
Don't know if the 51 is different. The later model is probably wider apart, but I had to shorten mine. You might get away with not shortening it at all.
Your windshield may be taller also, so you might have to adapt longer wiper arms, but that shouldn't be a problem.
It was about 10 years ago when I did this, so I really don't remember a whole lot about it. I'm 51 now, so senility is setting in...lol
On my 55' F100 my friend modified a 74 F100 motor and used the switch from a 87 F150. Now I have intermittent wipers. The original switch on the stock remains and is used. I would imagine my friend would fix a setup for you without breaking the bank >$150.
Hey Tacson,
I am in Nashville and would be interested in getting such a wiper setup like you are talking about in my 55 f 100 if it can be done for < $150. How do I get ahold of your friend?
Jeff
