can anyone tell me anything about the correct door panels on a 1951 f3? i have the access panel and also as you may see in the picture a metal frame that goes around for what looks like a panel would be inserted. some pictures i have seen just show the access panel. both mine are missing.
Looks like you have all the hard to find parts. I had the upper panel upholstered and use the stock cardboard cover over the access. The panel is tucked under the upper metal piece. Here is mine. 51 F1.
thanks for the reply so what you are saying is the channel i have lined in blue is supposed to be there and it is a cardboard insert that goes in there. is this the one you are talking about? https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/tru...anels-black-pa i have looked for the access steel panels but cannot find them this cardboard / fiberboard would at least cover up the hole.
thanks al
You have the optional "Extra Cab" interior which included deluxe door coverings. The upper plate you have was covered in a vinyl, and the framework you have held a cardboard trim panel. Trucks with this option did not come with the metal access hole cover. The metal panel is not necessary, but I would recommend sealing the hole with a vapor barrier. A heavy plastic will work, sealed up with either quality duct tape or what the factory would have used, thin butyl rope sealer, commonly called "dum dum" in the industry, to hold the plastic in place.

Yes, those are the panels like I used.
I had the metal covers and installed them. I have upgraded mine to the "5 Star Extra". I had to find all of the parts. Had the required track and Arm Rest support welded in plus all the other extras. WS trim, Stainless Wing Window frames, Hood Trim, Locking Glove box Drivers Door Lock and Courtesy Dome Lights. Fun times finding all that!
thanks for all the info your trucks look great. that info sure does help now to find the vermillion red paint to do the interior doors. i am full of questions as i just picked up this truck last week. it is very solid but certainly needs some work. someone hacked up the electrical system and just put it back half a## to get it mainly running. i find only in line fuses they put in, at one time do you know of where a fuse box might have been? how many circuit box? i am thinking of just getting a new harness and installing it . order all new glass and rubber weatherstriping 30 to 40 days out to get the glass. eventually want o get the correct set also. it has an explorer set in it now one step at a time .
thanks again

Originally, there were only two breakers attached to the instrument cluster. I don't remember any in-line fuses. Many upgrade to a more modern setup with a fuse panel. I replaced my wiring with a stock reproduction. Correct colored cloth over plastic insulation.

On my 54 there are a couple of inline fuses. One is the heater motor line. Others MIGHT be the turn signals, or some light....
I also replaced my wire harness with original looking wire with plastic insulation covered with colored cloth to match the original.
