2017 lariat gasser 65k. Squeaking noise from driver front. Jacked up front end and checked ball joints, tie rods everything is solid. No play. Anyone have the same issue? Thoughts please
Thank you all!!
Could be number of front end components - does if do it as drive straight, turn or over bumps?
The sealed ball joints on these trucks typically give warning squeaks while turning when the “lifetime grease” is done, the detectable play follows as wears continues due to the lack of lubrication.
Best bet is to jack it up and listen underneath as a helper turns the steering wheel. Use a stethoscope or screwdriver to help isolate the source if it’s too hard to determine just by ear.
**If it does not do it jacked up, try again with wheel on the ground but being underneath. If it is ball joint and it has just started, it may stop squeaking when its unloaded (up in the air)
There are grease fittings - but only on the front u-joints for the stub shafts. Could also be the source of squeak on turns but I am betting on ball joint. Let us know what you find please
