I have a front end squeek only when I turn the wheel to the left. I checked all the rod ends and linkages, they appear to be OK. Could it be the steering box or something else? Are there any hidden lube points?
The idler arm is also a popular source of the squeek... I had replaced my ball joints at about 60k and the noise stayed, getting ready to do whole front end within the week @ 90k and hopefully it will be gone for good.
I shot my tie rod ends. ball joint and idler arm with some lithium grease from a spray can with the little tube. (actually it was Schwinn bicycle chain lube) I could force the little tube under the dust caps and spray away. No more squeak. I believe that tere were only two grease fitting on the front ende of my '97 F150SC.
grease the crap out of the truck man everything is dry that is why the squeak is there trust me on this i had the same thing and i was like wtf i talked to my mechanic and he laughed at me and asked me the last time i grease the truck. Since i had not used it all summer it would have been last winter and yeah squeak went away in like no time. And yes my 97 is the same you have to get the needle attachment for the end of the grease gun and use that
The ball joints etc are greased for life I guess, but it is just a short life with no grease fittings to lube with. I had the same problem a few years ago and now about every 7,500 miles I do the same as Tulswa up above says, but I poked a very small hole into the boot with an ice pick to poke the plastis straw into. Spray till it starts to come out of the hole or some where else. I have put about 25, 000 miles on it since then and not 1 squeek to date.

I got the job finished last Wed. I had to cut the idler arm off! It has a tapered spline which sucked! Good luck to anyone attempting this! Truck drives like new now and no squeek.
