My radiator started leaking recently so I am going to pulling it to replace it. My transmission cooler lines have been slowly leaking the last couple years. I figure this is also a good time to change those lines out and do an oil and filter change on the transmission because I don't know when one was done last. The lines that leak are rubber and right next to each other. They are steel coming off the transmission but once they get past the engine they are rubber. Is the connection for those lines to the transmission cooler also just a barb with a clamp or does it have a steel fitting? I see some lines are steel plus rubber but it also looks like you can just buy the rubber part, which is what I have leaking.
When I removed mine they were just rubber clamped to steel, the replacement lines came pressed from the factory. Aside from the line going from the radiator to the cooler, that's still 5/16" hose iirc that needs to be clamped, no barb involved however.
I wouldn't wait on changing them out, mine weren't leaking at all then the steel burst in several rusted spots sending pretty much all of the fluid onto the pavement in the parking lot.
Ran in & bought every bottle I could get just to make it 1 mile home, it dumped out completely before getting to the edge of the lot so had to essentially run "dry" .
Thought I lucked out when dropping the pan at the time because it was relatively clean but not even 100 miles later the dipstick seems to have more glitter than fluid.
