I do not have a tuner on it. The trans sounds like it operates very close to how the one in my dodge does.
would a tuner allow me to monitor the lockup, or is that beyond the scope of what they can do?
The tuner that I have and that a lot of 7.3 owners like (PHP Hydra) does not monitor anything. However, you could buy an edge insight cts 3 and that will let you monitor converter lockup along with a lot of other parameters. I had the older version (edge insight cts 2) and it worked great. But I left it suctioned cupped to the windshield 24/7 and my truck is parked outside all of the time. After a couple of years, it started glitching, and I think the summer heat killed it. So just be weary of that.
Also, if you have any mechanic buddies with a "professional" scan tool, they should be able to monitor converter lockup.
