94 460

hi everyone,

This looked like the place where i may get the answers im looking for.
i have a 1994 460. im dropping this into a 66 Tbird, i have a eight stack single runner injection manifold (still carb style intake)
obviously the 94 heads do not work with my intake, what is a good head/cam/lifter combo to use that will fit on the 94 block.
im not looking to build anything to amazing just something to buzz around in. i was told i need a cam with a LSA of somewhere around 121.
im completely lost and which heads/cam to go with any help would be appreciated.
block is bone stock 94

The cylinder head choice depends on what you want to do with the compression ratio. Early heads, C8, C9 DO VE heads have chambers that are about 15cc smaller at around 74cc. This will boost the compression ratio about 1.5 points on a 460. D3VE heads will keep the compression ratio about the same on your engine and you could use your existing valvetrain, rockers and pushrods. D3 heads were used from 1973 till 1987 so they are probably the most common heads for the 460 and are very inexpensive. The ones that came in applications that used a catalytic converter had induction hardened exhaust seats. ALL can benefit greatly from a good valve job and some porting work on both sides not just the exhaust, larger CJ size valves are not really an option if you want to keep the stock pistons in the engine.

The camshaft suggestion is probably a 112 not a 121 LSA. With that said depending on the amount of duration that you put into the engine the system could work just fine with a cam on 106 and not work well at all with something ground on 120. In an application like this I'd keep the duration low, 212 degrees or so @ .050 would be plenty.
