Bench Seat Differences - 5th Generation vs 6th generation
Hi everyone. Out of curiosity, are the bench seats from the 73-79 trucks beefier than the ones from the '67-'72 trucks? A local guy here has one out of a 6th generation truck and it looks like the frame is a little sturdier than the springs on the 5th generation seats. Any thoughts on this? Appreciate it
They could be different by bump vs dent, but it also varied by trim level, as a Ranger XLT seat is plusher than a Custom trim seat. For bumps when ordering, you could go up one trim level for ordering cab items.
I swapped a later, dent-side, seat into my 72 F100 when I had it. The later seat was FAR less springy/bouncy and I liked it considerably better. The springy old 72 seat would practically fracture my hips when it bounced me to a sudden stop by the lap belt after a big bump!
You can use the seat from any F100-F150 up into the early 1990's if you use your original seat tracks. The seats got plusher as the years went by so you will sit higher and closer to the steering wheel.
