Wrecked 400?

I've come across a 400 motor for pretty cheap, but the guy said it came out of a wrecked car and it looks like the pulley is bent from where it hit something. What are the chances that the crank is bad? I can spin the crank by hand, so that's a good sign right? Even if the block is trashed or something else is wrong, i really only want the crank and pistons.

It is possible to destroy the engine in a wreck but it is also very easy for the pulley to get bent up either from a collision or more likely from man handling the engine during removal at the salvage yard. Have you ever seen the removal technique where using a wrecker the front of the car is lifted off of the ground by the engine and then a torch is used to cut everything until the car falls off of the engine? This method of removal can sometimes damage sensitive components.

When in doubt find a shop that can check it for cracks. A good hit could fracture it.
