I sold my 2019 Superduty to the dealership at a great price at the beginning of 2022 and ordered a 2022 with an 8 week delivery promise. Of course, that didn't happen but it's here now at the beginning of Dec.
After waiting a couple of months, my brother talked me into a new Power Wagon. Its loaded up with audio, leather, 12" screen, locking diffs, wench, etc. The price on it was $68k, and the super duty I ordered is $45k.
The thing about the PW, is no death wobble, no doors full of water, no wet floors, absolute beast off road, which is what I use it for. Fit and finish is the best I've seen on a vehicle in a long time. The minuses are the price and too many electronics that I've never been a fan of.
Plus side of the stripped down Superduty is the 7.3 with 4.3's and the price. Minus's - death wobble, leaky doors, windows, tranny issue's??
Knowing what you know on your new Superduty with 7.3 would you trade the the Power Wagon for the Ford???
I've had 2 SD 7.3's w/4:30's. NEVER trade either for that Ram. NEVER. No tranny/death wobble/leaky doors/window issues either NO issues with the SD NONE. END OF STORY. Just the Ford Pass app with the truck going into sleep mode which is minor and is being fixed as we speak..... Questions?
Me personally, no to the Dodge and yes to the Ford. But I had the privilege of renting a 2020 Dodge and a 2020 Ford before making my decision. I put 4000 miles on the Ford and 2000 miles on the Dodge. I pulled our camper the entire time with both trucks, and is the reason I wanted the truck. The Ford won hands down. I felt the interior was nicer and would hold up better on the Ford, and the layout of the interior was better, both in the front and rear seat. I was particularly happy that there was no transmission hump in the rear floor board, and that the rear seat was split, so I could leave part of it down and raise the rest if I needed to. The Dodge was either all up or all down... Another big feature I preferred on the Ford over the Dodge was the 10 speed transmission... it was so much nicer to drive than the 6 speed in the Dodge! Sure, rear ends and programing played a part in that too, but the Ford just performed better. But, this is me... I don't plan on trading my truck in in 2 years, and planed to keep this truck for a very long time and I put as much thought into it as I could. Of course driving them each for such long distances made it pretty easy for me. Because of that I also preferred to make the choice rather than folks on the internet... Really dive deep and figure out what features you like and which you don't, then go for the one that checks off more boxes! Good luck.
So on last Superduty I could never lock the doors because sure as heck the alarm would go off in the middle of the night. Have they fixed the vehicle alarm on the newer ones?
You should research more. Plenty of RAMs out there leaking like a sieve at the back of the cab. 6.4 isn't bad but that 8speed tranny sucked in the one I drove. Death wobble can happen in ANY solid axle truck.
To me, there are more Pro's to the Ford because you can build it the way you want. $68k for a RAM vs $45k for the Ford... Take that $23k and build the Ford.
Just keep the RAM. You keep bringing up issues with the Ford like every single Ford on the planet has those issues. Save yourself the headache and keep the truck you've got.

We need more info about the wench.
It's a hard pass for me though as the wife and I still get along great. As far as the Power Wagon goes I'd pass on that too. I ruled out GM because I wanted a solid front axle. Ram's CAD lost to Ford's free wheeling hubs.

Wouldn't have had a powa wagon to start with. Might as well keep it so you don't get a death wobbling, super soaker, alarm tooten Ford.

No death wobble because of recall's anymore, don't let anyone tell you otherwise......

This made me laugh....a lot
Ford - if salt and corrosion and longevity are part of your equation
Aluminum verse Steel - at least where we are with salt, Ram still does not hold up to the salt when compared to the Ford. Visible body rust is the norm on Rams around here.

The issues you mentioned I haven't heard of them. other than the Death Wobble..every Manufacturer has the odd misfit...as far as death wobble I've owned Fords for ever I'm 62 and I've yet to experience this " death wobble " I've had 7 Ford trucks and the only issue I've had was my 6.0 ltr with head studs...personally I don't buy based on price I'm brand loyal...my best friend back in the 80's switched badges went to Dodge from Ford he finally came back to Ford 3 years ago....his only Bitch about the Dodge was the transmission...3 trucks and rebuilt 3 transmissions...and his only other bitch was the interior quality....my Son has a 2010 Dodge and just put a transmission in his...Cummins is a hell of an engine it's too bad they can't back it up with a strong tranny...go with you gut feeling..big price difference obviously not apples to apples but sometimes to much bling is a pain in the ***...
For what you are needing in a truck, I'd say Dodge. BUT, if you do any heavy towing, I'd stick with Ford. As mentioned earlier, the big 3 all have decent trucks, it's just what are you using it for? I've had 2 super Dutys and an F150, never an issue (other than the 6.0). I also have a Dodge car. Love the uconnect layout with it and Dodge interiors, looks are much nicer. So, that said IN MY OPINION if you just need a truck for off road, hunting, grocery getter etc. Go Dodge. If you need a heavy duty truck for towing & hauling, stick with Ford.
just my .02 worth.

I agree, for what Im using it for the Powerwagon with lighter suspension, swaybar disco and locking front diff will work better. The most I tow is a light utility trailer.
I always bought a stripped down, work truck with manual controls for reliability, and because I dont need a loaded up $70k truck sitting in my driveway most of the year.
I trusted my last Superduty offroad in some nasty conditions, but it would beat the snot out of me. The PW on last hunt was awesome, however I have no faith in all the electronic crap they put on them. However when everyone else was stuck or restricted, the PW didnt care, pulled out a superduty, some atv's when no other vehicle could even get to them.
I'll keep the PW, if anyone is looking for an XL 350 with 7.3 and 4.3's there's one sitting at Rich Ford in Albuquerque right now.
Sounds like you had your mind made up before making your post and had hopes someone would talk you out of it. Looks like we failed. Good luck with your PW.
Unlike many here; I'm not brand loyal and I still own 5 Dodge/Rams. I almost bought a Power Wagon last summer....my thoughts;
- those "issues" you mention with the Ford? forget them, they all have issues of one sort or another.
- The PowerWagon is awesome offroad - the best offroad HD truck ever built, better than a Tremor for true offroad use
- The weaknesses of the PW are easy to identify; The 6.4 is weaker than the 7.3, there is no diesel option and the payload is absolute CRAP.......less than many half tons.
It all boils down to usage; if offroad is truly what you use it for then keep the PW......if you ever tow or haul anything more than a tent trailer, I'd get the Ford.
