Time flies when you are having fun. According to the weather guessers it is supposed to rain from 11am until 11pm. If they are lucky and that actually happens it will be great as we need the rain.
I'm not used to this. It's weird, not posting in the November thread for 10 or 15 days in December.
I figured out what was wrong with my $0.79 mango. The little sticker says "Tommy". There was nothing wrong with it. It's only suppose to look good and survive transportation. It was not suppose to taste good.
Raining here now. Not sure how long. We are up to another 4/10". or more precisely:
Your gauge display is quite impressive. That page I see online is not as nice. I don't even know if the online weather is accurate.
I've been outdoors the last few nights. I didn't have anything "scientific". I saw a couple of handheld, keychain style thermometers and a few that people had hanging. Overnight temps were down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. From the warmth and comfort of a heated company car, I can't fathom how people hang out on the street corners, standing out on the sidewalks all night. Anyone who has ever gone out at night in The City knows. You've seen them. Drug dealers, prostitutes, and whatever else they might be doing. They are the after dark economy. Whatever they are doing supports all of those late night diners, corner stores, donut shops, emergency rooms, and keeps the police and fire crews busy.
I grew up in a different time. To stay warm and dry, we relied on wool, down, and leather. Synthetics were not as popular. Today's advanced textiles, a lot of which was military technology, like Gore-Tex, Hipora, PolarFleece, 3M Thinsulate, and PrimaLoft are lighter in weight, and you are just as warm and dry. What really surprises me is that there are so many "off brand" and discounted garments that are about just as good. You can buy a $10 fleece jacket just about anywhere, like Target or Wal*Mart, and it will be almost like that expensive The North Face. Amazon can sell you a $10 jacket made with a polyester or nylon blend of some sort, that repels rain pretty well. I gambled on a $10 Amazon coat, and it held up perfectly to this last storm. It was dry and warm.
Happy Sunday Nor Cal.
The left hinge on my gaming laptop broke yesterday. It is still attached, but I am going to have to leave the screen up for fear of it breaking completely. I have contacted support, but I'm sure it is out of warranty because I did not extend it. They don't work weekends, so I will have to wait until Monday for a reply.

That is a common problem on a lot of laptops. The problem is that the hinges become a bit too stiff, and the torque on the thin back shell behind the screen pulls the screws out. Repair is moderately technical, but can be done for about $300-$500.
Hopefully it is under warranty. They told me to fill out a return form. I did and am now waiting their response. I can use m other laptop to stay in touch with emails and what not, but I will not be able to play any games with the laptop off being repaired.
Since it's mechanical, and not electrical, they may repair it as customer goodwill, or something like that.
Does it look like something that you can fix yourself, if you opened up the case? I've heard that a lot of those laptop hinge mechanisms fail because of a loose screw, or sometimes just because the glue dried out from being next to all the heat.
