The forecast I saw last night indicated that the main body of the rain would pass through the peninsula between roughly 3AM and 8AM. We've tacked on about 2.44" of rain since midnight, and we had a bit over 1/10" before midnight. The winds are not as extreme as the previous storm, but the rain is way stronger.
Are the water reservoir levels still low? Any news on snowpack measurements? Are the rates going up?
Depends on the reservoir. Anderson, which is in the largest reservoir in the south bay is empty because of an earthquake retrofit they started a year or so ago. When it's finished, I think it will have slightly higher capacity. None-the-less it is putting a major crimp in the water supply for those folks.
Other reservoirs are at, or slightly higher than they were at this time last year. The water management districts are being very conservative in holding water back as much as they can. We are still in a drought (big time).
We're doing pretty OK in the rain department. I haven't checked our well for a couple of months, so I need to get down there to see how it's recovering from the low rain year we've had. That said, we got just slightly over 3" on Tuesday, and another 3/10" today (that does not show on this graph). The summary for the month of December (so far) shows we've had 9.2" of rain just for this month. That is low by at least a couple of inches because the storm we had about a week ago did not record much rain when the cone got clogged by tree debris. So I'm guessing we're in the 11" zone for December.
We are closing out 2022 with a whole buncha rain. We have had almost 3-1/2" of rain in the last three days, and if you count the deluge on Monday/Tuesday, well over 6" for the last week.
