I had a partial regen activate on my way home yesterday, just a block away from my driveway. Pretty frustrating. I pulled in, thought about it, and then headed back out for a 30 minute drive to clear the regen. Without having to purchase any aftermarket contraptions, or enable secret abilities via Forescan, I wish, from the factory, Ford would give you the option to run user activated regens so that I wouldn't have to spend more time driving or wasting fuel driving to clear the system.

unfortunately- when you pulled into your house... if you put the truck in park or shut it off..... the regen process was stopped and will only be restarted again when the DPF hits 95-100% full (or 500 miles whichever comes first)....so your 30 min drive was prob a waste of your time and fuel. Another reason to use Forescan and enable OCR (and the auto regen checkbox) so you have control of this thing!

Precisely, I don't understand why it is not an available option for ALL trims. Very frustrating!

As I understand it, XL's and XLT's are primarily bought for "work trucks" which may get used differently from personal trucks and have different requirements... I don't know. It really doesn't make sense why it isn't not only an option, but one that we have to pay extra for at that. This should come enabled on our truck just like headlights... I heard they will start charging extra in the coming years if we want the option to turn those on and off too...

It wasn’t. The partial regen cleared. I know this because I watch my instant MPG. When I restarted the truck it reset, however, within 5 minutes the regen started again and cleared in about 30 minutes of driving.
But, you are correct, I’ll see another regen in 500 miles. My truck has been pretty consistent.
This behavior isn’t any different than my previous GMC Duramax or my EcoDiesel.
So last night, I start driving down the road and sure enough, before I even hit the ramp, regen now pops up on the screen, so I know that is working the way it should. iDash showed 36% dash Full. I drove about 40 more miles and then checked the box and watched as the iDash flipped back and forth between on and off a bit before I started to see ACT and EGT rise. 1.4 mile from home, it completed at 44,999.4 on the ODO. That puts 1337 miles between regens, or doing 1 instead of 3 regens by miles when not really needed. Will see what happens this June when we head out on our trip with the 5th wheel.
I wonder, does Ford have an override built in, just in case this gets ignored and does a regen on it's own if the DPF is full for so many miles? I know 40 is not a trigger.

I'm not sure on the Ford. It would be great to get a definitive answer on this.
On the Chevy/GMC, if you interrupt the regens enough, it'll put the truck in limp-mode and needs to go to the dealer for a forced idle regen and computer reset. It's a total pain. It is for these reasons and my prior experience with my GMC that if it is at all possible, I'll continue driving until regens have been completed. If you don't allow the regens to happen, it can cause issues with the DPF systems, sensors, overall reliability and longevity of the components.
I'm so tired of regenerations that my next truck will be a gasser.
I hear you. Regens are lame. My next truck is a gasser but, I'm really disappointed to be moving away from the diesel. I just wish there wasn't a war against diesel powered vehicles.

There is no override. You get the message to clean soon followed by a message to drive to clean or something similar if you don't. None of this starts until you are at 100% DPF soot load according to the screen on the truck.
Anyone know what the requirements are for a regen to take place and to continue? I thought that if you slowed below a certain speed the regen would stop. I think I have seen the regen stop when I had to stop at an intersection; truck never shifted to neutral or park. I don't have the device to tell me a regen is in process; only the dpf screen counting down.

That's my biggest concern about owning a 6.7... otherwise, I love it! But yeah... I'm due a regen pretty soon...
