I am not sure the truck actually knows how full the DPF is. I compare to my Scan Gauge II, it is different. I also noticed in the cold, the Scan Gauge will go to 0, but he truck shows 15% and then will suddenly drop to 0. The truck stayed there for a few days, then suddenly jumped to 30%, while the Scan Gauge shows 11%. Maybe it just doesn't like the cold any more than I do.
This morning, dash 65%, iDash 40%. Looks like it will be ready for a full regen by tomorrow on the way home, so will check the box when I stop the truck at work. That would put it at 1060 miles between regens. Sure better than every 496 miles.
idash does not read in %, it's displaying a different measurement unit, which is why it does not match the % read out in the truck.
you'll notice when the truck reads 0% the idash is still burning off particulate for another 20 minutes or so.
my commute to work is 45 minutes, I do it like chadstick does; Inhibit regens until it gets to something above 80% then allow it to do a full cycle on one of my commutes.

about 35 min until I see the idash say "OFF". The truck reads "0%" for about 10-20 min while its still going on.
(this is all on the highway, im not sure how that effects timing)

Thanks. I have no idea what iDash is. But I'll look in to it.
idash just plugs into OBD and displays status of emissions and anything else you choose. I dont use mine for anything other than monitoring EGTs and regen, its stuffed in the center column shelf out of sight unless I need to glance down.
In forscan you can add the auto regen checkbox. When I get close to 100 I'll uncheck it if I want to delay the regen till the next day on a longer drive. As soon as you recheck it when you're driving it'll begin...
Time will tell but it definitely cant be good for your rig. Hot egt's thru the turbo and extra fuel being added could also make the fuel dilution numbers higher in your oil.
I do the exact same thing. I have noticed that if I have to many partial regens in a row it will not go back down to 0% , so I make sure that I do a manual regen and that will take it back down to 0.

Better let Banks know they have a % when it isnt doing percent then.
dont know what to tell you, except that it will continue to burn off, display as 'on' and the DPF ticks down indicated on the banks, while the truck has shown zero for some time.
the idash does measure Soot load % but it is measured differently and may or may not match the truck at times. Mine will get to 11% soot load on the idash before the truck registers anything and then the truck is reading 10%.
The regen RG (forget the exact name) on the idash is a more accurate % of when the truck would do the mandatory Ford programmed regen based upon miles (the max of 496) whether needed or not. With this mandatory regen you could be a zero % Soot load on the truck and the idash and it will do this programmed regen unless you disable the feature by un-checking the auto regen in the vehicle settings.
After you add the dpf screen (adding 8 to whatever the second value is on the 720-07-02 as built), go into the plain English side of the ipc/pcm and select option 3 for the regen screen. (dpf manual regen)
It's not on the as built side, itll be on the plain English side.
Guess I missed the second part. I've had the dpf screen on my last two trucks, but could never find dpf manual regen. Once changed, can a regen be commanded regardless the level of the filter? Where do I find this "dpf manual regen" screen?
Anyone know what the requirements are for a regen to take place and to continue? I thought that if you slowed below a certain speed the regen would stop. I think I have seen the regen stop when I had to stop at an intersection; truck never shifted to neutral or park. I don't have the device to tell me a regen is in process; only the dpf screen counting down.
