New member here, but Ive searced the forums to no avail. I recently purchased a 2022 F250 Regular LB and have been trying to search for extended step options that would give me good behind the cab access to the bed. Everything I search for is for SCAB or SCREW applications.
Does anyone know of any options available, or if the extended screw/scab from Ford or aftermarket can be used with regular cabs? Appreciate any feedback!
Thanks for the reply. I actually have those on my 22 F150 and they work great, however given the SDs height and bed length Im looking for something thats more continuous for ease of access throughout
Steps for the extended cab cannot be used on the regular cab. The rear mounts for the steps are under the extended cab portion that your truck doesn’t have.
I had a hard enough time finding decent steps for my super cab. Ended up going with take-off F150 Raptor steps.
If you get some supercab ones I bet you could move the bracket. It screws into some nuts embedded into the plastic portion. The stiffness of the step comes from a rod that is not bolted in, it just rests on top of the bracket and slips inside of the plastic portion.
I know this because if you ever remove the plastic step from the bracket there is a likelihood that the embedded nut will come loose too. So you would have to use some ingenuity to get a/the nut back in.
I am pretty sure this will work with some ingenuity and enough epoxy.
The weight load comes from up top when standing on it. So the embedded nuts and 3 screws only hold it lightly. I wouldn’t go rock crawling with the stock ones, they are one impact and damaged.
Hi everyone, just wanted to update this thread and report back that the Luverne steps do indeed work on regular cab LBs. Ive attached some photos for reference and will post better ones tomorrow. Some things I would like to point out:
1. They're advertised as "6'' oval boards", but are oval only at the endcaps, other wise they're J-channel type so can be cut for a more custom look
2. The "boards" mount to the brackets by t-bolts and nuts so you can slide them up/down before tightening down.
3. Step pads (6 total in the kit) are in individual pieces and can be mounted anywhere on the board
Hope the info here will help any future/current reg cab owners.
