Question Step Options For 1990 Extended Cab?

Hi all,

I have a 1990 f250 supercab/extended cab (not quite sure on correct terminology. Has a back seat but only two doors). I am looking for some steps for the side. Ideally I would like some running boards so that I can also access the bed, however, I am having a majorly tough time finding anything for these trucks. I see some option for the regular cab, as well as the 4-door crew cab configuration, but not much for the extended cab. Is it an issue of the frame mounting location/integrity? Could I just get a set that I liked and make new mounting holes? I don't mind drilling a couple holes to mount something as long as it is sturdy. I am 250 lbs or so. Granted, the steps are less of a necessity for me as they are for my various short passengers. Do you guys prefer single steps over running boards or nerf bars? Any recommendations? I see the silver diamond panel running boards from DeeZee but am just not a fan of the look. All of your help is greatly appreciated!

with the fact these trucks are now over 30 years old and aftermarket parts supply is drying up, it would be easier to just make what you want.
i use frame mount steps on all my trucks, the body mount ones tend to rip the rocker panels apart.
